About this project
This website is an independent educational resource about the historical Bavarian Illuminati and modern claims associated with its name. It does not represent or recruit for a secret society.

Documented historical symbolism

Like other Enlightenment-era secret societies, the Bavarian Illuminati used organizational grades, codenames, and emblematic language. Surviving materials should be interpreted in their eighteenth-century context rather than through twenty-first-century meme culture.

Exact catalogs of “official” Illuminati logos circulating online are often modern inventions or misattributions. Prefer scholarly editions and archival descriptions over viral image boards.

Later popular culture / conspiracy symbolism

Pyramids, eyes, goats, and hand gestures are frequently labeled “Illuminati” in entertainment and online commentary. Many of these motifs have independent religious, heraldic, commercial, or artistic histories.

The Eye of Providence and pyramid motifs

The Eye of Providence appears in Christian iconography and in civic emblems, including elements associated with the Great Seal of the United States. Explaining those emblems requires their own documentary histories—not a default Illuminati attribution.
